Rangers are monitoring Falkirk full-back Keelan Adams, Rangers News reports.
According to the news outlet’s website [11 December], a scout was sent to keep tabs on the 23-year-old during Falkirk’s 3-0 win against Raith Rovers on Saturday (7 December).
Adams was previously on the Gers’ books at Auchenhowie but was released as a teenager. Rangers are said to have watched the defender up close multiple times.
Rangers press on with James Tavernier succession plan
Tavernier has become the subject of ridicule at Ibrox throughout the season, as this year is believed to be his last for the Rangers.
His replacement could be a player who spent time in the academy setup in Glasgow during his younger years.
While Adams may not be the most desirable target for Rangers supporters to replace the captain, Nils Koppen is taking a realistic approach to the upcoming transfer business.
The Light Blues’ financial woes have been well-documented, and the sell-to-buy approach at Ibrox will be adopted again as Tavernier heads for what feels to be an inevitable exit.
Feyenoord loanee Neraysho Kasanwirjo is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines, leaving Dujon Sterling and Tavernier to battle it out for a starting spot.
Therefore, securing a necessary succession plan for Tavernier is the next logical step for the Gers and Adams, which represents one of the best available options and has been tried and tested in the Scottish Premiership.
He has developed into one of the brightest prospects in the Scottish Championship at Falkirk, contributing three goals and five assists in 23 appearances across all competitions this season.
However, Rangers will need to accelerate the negotiations to bring Adams back to Ibrox, with Championship outfits Leeds United and Swansea also supposedly in the frame for his signature.
