Rangers are legally bound to silence in the Connor Barron tribunal with Aberdeen, according to Scott Burns.
The Scottish Express Star journalist reports on his personal X account [6 December] that the Scottish Professional Football League aren’t commenting on the situation for now.
The SPFL have rules regarding Under-23 players moving to different clubs domestically, and in the midfielder’s case, a decision is expected to arrive in December.
Barron’s freedom-of-contract move from Pittodrie to the Gers in the summer means the Dons are due compensation because the midfielder is their youth product and moved to Ibrox at the age of 21.
Connor Barron tribunal a distraction at Rangers
The Light Blues should get the issue with Aberdeen done and dusted as soon as possible, as they have other priorities to focus on.
Barron has been an immense addition to the Bears’ squad, and the Ibrox chief should meet the Dons’ demands, considering they are fair.
The 22-year-old Scotsman has been a regular fixture in Philippe Clement’s plans, making 23 appearances in all competitions this season.
Rangers haven’t been blessed with the best recruitment plans in recent years, but the former Aberdeen midfielder has undoubtedly been an excellent find for the Gers, as was evident in the 1-0 win over Hearts on 10 November.
In the current campaign, Clement hasn’t had the best of starts at the Light Blues, sitting well behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership table.
The Belgian manager has found a winning formula in recent weeks, though, with Nicolas Raskin and Barron forming a decent partnership in the engine room.
It feels like the Light Blues’ hierarchy are dragging the Glaswegian club’s name through the mud with the tribunal, and there needs to be some sort of consensus soon.
In other Rangers news, the Glaswegian club have been tipped to be in discussions with Manchester United over a deal.
