Rangers look set to be limited by UEFA as Graeme Souness recently floated a £50million investment into the club, according to the Daily Record.

This comes after the GlenAllachie Master Distiller Billy Walker has opened the door to making an investment into the club.

However, UEFA has capped spending on football operations at 70 per cent of the club’s annual income.

This limitation means that even if Walker was willing to invest a significant sum like £50million, as suggested by Souness for bridging the gap with rivals Celtic, such an investment couldn’t be directly channelled into immediate squad improvements beyond the set financial ceiling.

However, Walker’s interest doesn’t necessarily need to be about large-scale immediate spending.

A smaller, strategic investment could still benefit Rangers by enhancing infrastructure, youth development, or even non-player-related operational efficiencies, all of which could indirectly contribute to long-term competitive success.

This approach respects UEFA’s financial fair play while allowing Gers to grow sustainably, potentially making them more competitive in the future without breaching spending caps.

It remains to be seen if Walker is actually serious about investing or is merely just name-dropping the club to stay in the headlines.
