Rangers man ruled out at Ibrox as Clement shares injury update ahead of clash v FCSB

Philippe Clement has confirmed Ridvan Yilmaz won’t be ready to feature for Rangers against FCSB in their Europa League showdown.

The Light Blues are looking to get back to winning ways at Ibrox on Thursday (24 October) after their 1-0 defeat to Kilmarnock as they try and boost their chances of qualifying for the knockout stages of the Europa League.

While Zak Lovelace is available to feature for the Gers having starred for the B Team on Tuesday (22 October) Clement has confirmed that this game has come around a little too early for Yilmaz to feature.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Wednesday (23 October) he said: “Ridvan trained with the team today for a second time, so it is too fast to put him into a game tomorrow.

“He is progressing well. Lovelace is available for selection.”

It is slightly concerning that Rangers fans have seen so little of Yilmaz so far this season. While the Turkish defender has been replaced well by Jefte this term, he would be a welcome addition back to Clement’s ranks.

In the Belgian’s first season in charge in Glasgow, the left-back was one of the most consistent players in Glasgow, winning pundits and supporters alike around with a series of excellent displays on the left of defence.

He still has his issues and is far from the perfect defender, but the Gers tend to play better when he is fit and available. Hopefully, that isn’t too far away with Clement suggesting that he is back in first-team training.

Thursday night’s Europa League clash may have come around a little too quickly for him to make the matchday squad, but Sunday (27 October) afternoon’s showdown with St Mirren could be the perfect chance to throw him back into the fold.
