'Massive' - Tom Lawrence makes admission ahead of Rangers v FCSB

Tom Lawrence admits the Europa League showdown against FCSB at Ibrox is “massive” for Rangers on 24 October.

After winning the opening game of the tournament 2-0 at Malmo, the Bears crashed to an emphatic 4-1 defeat to Lyon last time out.

Ahead of the game, Lawrence acknowledged the importance of the occasion and urged his teammates to put in a worthy performance, as shared by the club on X [23 October].

“It’s a massive game for us, always big games at Ibrox in the Europa League,” he said.

“We have to put a performance on for our fans.”

Philippe Clement seems to be under pressure as questions have been raised over his future at the club following the 1-0 defeat at the hands of Kilmarnock.

Derek McInnes’ team kept the Light Blues quiet for the entire fixture and went on to score in the dying minutes of the match to take the three points at Rugby Park.

As a result, the players will be unarguably low on confidence, and Clement needs to ensure the Bears are up to the task for the FCSB clash.

One thing that favours Rangers is that Gigi Becali has already given suggestions on what his team will look like [Daily Record, 22 October] as they visit Ibrox.

However, it remains to be seen whether the Light Blues will be able to exploit that and get the win over the team from Bucharest.

The Bears have to contend with some tough fixtures in the Europa League, with teams like OGC Nice, Tottenham and Manchester United to come next.

Therefore, Lawrence and other players will need to put in a much better display than they did against Killie and bounce back to have a better chance of qualifying for the knockout rounds.
