Rangers are expected to make another bid for Plymouth Argyle attacker Morgan Whittaker, according to the Daily Record.
The news outlet reported on 19 July that as James Tavernier is expected to leave the proceeds from his sale will be used to make an offer for the 23-year-old.
This comes after an opening bid of £7million+ was made by Gers and rejected by the English Championship outfit.
Should Whittaker join next, he will be the seventh first-team signing made by the club with Oscar Cortes, Jefte, Clinton Nsiala, Connor Barron, Liam Kelly and Hamza Igamane joining already.
Rangers must sign Morgan Whittaker and another marquee striker
Gers’ pursuit of Whittaker is a strategic move to strengthen their attacking options.
The 23-year-old winger, who scored 18 goals for Plymouth Argyle last season, can provide the creativity and goal-scoring threat needed to replace Abdallah Sima.
Whittaker’s versatility allows him to operate on the right flank and drift centrally, making him an alternative to Sima.
To further bolster their attacking options, Gers should also consider signing a marquee striker like Lawrence Shankland.
The Scotland international, known for his goal-scoring prowess, could lead the line effectively and complement Whittaker’s playmaking abilities.
This dual approach would not only strengthen the Ibrox outfit’s attack but also provide them with a more balanced and versatile forward line capable of challenging for domestic and European success.
In other Rangers news, business is expected to move quickly as Gers aim to beat Celtic to sign a Euro 2024 player.
