Rangers player due to depart Ibrox as 3 English clubs make enquiries for transfer - report

Rangers have received three transfer enquiries from English Championship clubs for Scott Wright who is set to leave Ibrox this summer, Darren Witcoop has said.

The journalist posted on X on Tuesday (23 July) to say that Sheffield Wednesday, Derby County and Preston had all based about the Gers winger.

All three clubs are said to have other targets in mind as well but the 26-year-old is on list of targets for all three teams.

Scott Wright Rangers exit inevitable

It is not much of a secret that Philippe Clement wants to improve his forward ranks at Ibrox this transfer window but even accounting for a lack of quality options it is hard to imagine Wright remaining at the club beyond the summer.

The 26-year-old made just eight Scottish Premiership starts last season and if the Gers can pick up a fee for the winger then you imagine they will be extremely tempted to accept and reinvest the money in other areas of the squad.

Wright has been a useful squad option at Ibrox but has never really emerged as the go-to man and inconsistency has been the theme of his stint at Ibrox.

On the plus side for the player, it seems like he has no shortage of suitors with clubs in England keen to sign him. The last remaining question is seemingly which side will be the winner for his signature?

Wednesday have been long-linked and TEAMtalk wrote on Monday (22 July) that provisional talks have taken place between the Owls and Wright’s representatives but the competition appears fierce.
