Rangers player used 30+ times last season wanted by Championship club - report

Rangers ace Scott Wright is being targeted by Sheffield Wednesday for a transfer this summer, according to the Daily Record.

The Scottish outlet reported via its online edition on 29 June that Wednesday boss Danny Rohl is an “admirer” of the 26-year-old.

This comes as the winger has just a year left on his Ibrox contract. The report also adds that the Gers are “willing” to listen to offers for Wright this summer.

Why Rangers should let Scott Wright go

Despite playing a consistent role in Philippe Clement’s side last term, as the Glasgow-based outfit are undergoing some major changes at the club, it’s likely best for Wright to be let go.

The winger played 33 times across all competitions last term but only managed to score four goals.

These numbers aren’t the most convincing and thanks to the addition of Oscar Cortes this summer, it’s unlikely the 26-year-old would get much of a look-in.

Additionally, Clement has the likes of Todd Cantwell, Ross McCausland and even Rabbi Matondo who all seem to perform better when called upon.

However, Cantwell could also be on his way out this summer [Scottish Sun, 20 June] as he looks to try and hit the ground running somewhere else following a season of inconsistency at Ibrox last time out.

Although the departures of Wright and Cantwell would leave Clement somewhat light on either flank, it could be the best thing for all parties as the Belgian looks to welcome even more signings to his ranks this summer.
