Rangers transfer round-up: Cantwell exit news emerges, Ligue 1 ace wanted

With the transfer window now in full swing, Rangers are well under way with their mammoth squad rebuilding task.

Six deals have so far been completed for incomings at Ibrox, which includes the permanent signings of Mohammed Diomande and Oscar Cortes.

Other players are on Philippe Clement and his staff’s shopping list, with the club aiming to complete deals in the coming days and weeks.

Only those released following the expiry of their contracts have so far departed, with the Gers yet to recoup any funds for outgoing players.

As deals brew in the pipeline, Ibrox News rounds up the latest.

Hamza Igamane granted visa, Rangers transfer to be official in hours

Rangers are set to confirm the transfer of Hamza Igamane in hours after he was granted a visa, according to FootMercato.

Writing on their website (2 July), the French news outlet report that there is a full agreement between the Light Blues and FAR Rabat over a deal for the 21-year-old forward.

Rangers are set to pay £1.7million plus bonuses to seal the transfer, with Igamane expected to pen a five-year deal at Ibrox [beIN Sports, 22 June].

Todd Cantwell expected to leave Rangers in transfer window in wake of latest Instagram episode

Todd Cantwell is now expected to leave Rangers as Philippe Clement continues his squad overhaul, according to Rangers Review.

Chris Jack reported via the outlet’s website on 3 July that amid “uncertainty” over the future of other prominent first-team players, such as Connor Goldson and captain James Tavernier, the English midfielder’s exit is seen to be on the cards.

Nils Koppen is said to be working on a list of further signings this summer, with five already confirmed, and in that context the club are willing to “listen to offers” for multiple members of the current squad, with the likes of Cyriel Dessers and Sam Lammers both wanted.

Cantwell only arrived in Glasgow a year and a half ago and was arguably the Light Blues’ best player for half a season under Michael Beale, but his second season didn’t match up.

Cyriel Dessers wanted in four countries as Rangers eye hefty transfer fee to sell

Cyriel Dessers is now wanted by clubs in four different countries and Rangers want to make their money back to sell him, according to Chris Jack.

The Rangers Review journalist reported via the outlet’s website on 3 July that the Nigerian striker has an asking price of the £4.5million it cost to bring him in from Cremonese last summer, with French and Spanish clubs having now “registered their interest” in a deal, on top of previously-reported interest from Greek side PAOK [Daily Mail, 25 June].

In addition the 29-year-old’s situation is being “closely monitored” in Saudi Arabia as the race hots up over an Ibrox exit.

Dessers scored 22 goals across his debut season in Glasgow but also endured criticism for his performances along the way.

Rangers ready to pounce for Ligue 1 ace Oussama Targhalline in latest Ibrox transfer

Rangers have set their sights on Ligue 1 ace Oussama Targhalline, according to L’Equipe.

The French newspaper reported via its website on Wednesday (July 3) that the 22-year-old, who impressed during his spell with Le Havre in the French top flight last season, has sparked interest from clubs across Europe, including several in France and Italy.

And, with Rangers keen to strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign, Targhalline’s potential as a defensive midfielder has drawn particular attention, with discussions ongoing as the Scottish side consider making a move for the Moroccan international.

However, the Gers have yet to take the step of making an official move to sign the midfielder and Le Havre want to keep him.
