Rangers transfer round-up: Player to fly in for talks as new Tavernier exit claim made

Rangers look to be on the verge of completing another piece of summer transfer business, despite the fact the window has yet to officially open.

The Gers have so far recruited defender Jefte from Fluminense, while Oscar Cortes’ loan from Lens has been made permanent.

While a number of names continue to be linked with a switch to Ibrox, others could also be on their way out in the coming days and weeks.

Ibrox News has rounded up the big Rangers transfer stories from Sunday (9 June).

Yusuf Kabadayi to jet into UK to seal Rangers transfer

Rangers target Yusuf Kabadayi is heading to the UK to discuss personal terms with the Ibrox club ahead of a potential transfer, according to The 4th Official.

Speaking in the Bluenose Bulletin on YouTube, the podcaster said Bayern Munich winger Kabadayi jetting into the UK for further talks with the club suggests he could be on the way to becoming a Gers player.

Lecce were also mentioned as a frontrunner to sign the 20-year-old [SchalkeZone], but Kabadayi meeting club officials in the next 48 hours implies he is leaning more towards the Light Blues.

Utrecht ready to push budget in race to sign Sam Lammers

FC Utrecht are ready to “go far” to sign Sam Lammers from Rangers this summer even though he is above their price range, according to Jordy Zuidam.

The club’s technical director admits the Dutch forward is “very important” to the Eredivisie side after he scored 11 goals for them in his half-season on loan there last time.

Lammers, 27, struggled mightily at Ibrox after his arrival last summer, but his form back in his homeland has sparked a transfer battle with FC Twente also interested, although their own technical director Arnold Bruggink is playing it cool.

He said, via Football Scotland (9 June): “We also have a very good striker at FC Twente. So, it is not that we need someone there immediately. By the end of the European Championship we will things will get going as usual. We are not panicking.”

Zuidam said, via Football Scotland: “He is a very important link in our team, so we want to go far for him. It is above our ceiling, but we are now looking for a solution.”

James Tavernier transfer requested by manager before unveiling

Giovanni van Bronckhorst wants to reunite with Rangers captain James Tavernier at new club Besiktas, according to Bulent Uslu.

The TGRT Haber TV pundit reported via Twitter that a spokesman of the Turkish Super Lig club says a move is now wanted by the former Ibrox boss, who Sozcu (9 June) report is set to arrive in his new job at Besiktas this week, with a tour planned for Thursday before his official unveiling on Friday (14 June).

Tavernier has already been heavily linked to another one of his previous Light Blues managers in Steven Gerrard, with the Daily Record reporting on 24 May that the former England and Liverpool star wants both the right-back and Gers teammate Connor Goldson in Saudi Arabia at Al-Ettifaq.

Ridvan Yilmaz top of transfer list at Besiktas

Besiktas have placed Rangers star Ridvan Yilmaz top of their list to replace Arthur Masuaku who is leaving this summer, according to Ertan Suzgun.

The Turkish outfit are set to part ways with their current left back, Masuaku with him in talks with “some teams across Europe”.

As a replacement for the DR Congo international, Besiktas have placed Yilmaz “at the top of the list” as they look to sign him from Rangers.
