Rangers transfer saga could soon be over as fans eagerly await confirmation - report

Rangers will soon conclude their bid to sign Sevilla midfielder Joan Jordan, according to El Mira.

Writing on their website (25 July), the Spanish news outlet reports that Sevilla fans eagerly await confirmation of the move, with Jordan no longer having a future with the club.

Jordan has insisted on his desire to remain in Seville but the club are ready to move him on after only 13 appearances last season.

Phillipe Clement is looking to add an experienced midfielder to his ranks after losing Ryan Jack and John Lundstram this summer.

Rangers could revitalise Joan Jordan’s career at the Ibrox

Rangers are ready to offer Jordan a lifeline to his Sevilla nightmare and give him regular playing time in the Scottish Premiership.

The 30-year-old has made 198 appearances for the La Liga side and won two Europa League titles with the club in 2020 and 2023.

Jordan would add experience and a winning mentality to Clement’s side ahead of another summer of change at the Ibrox.

The Gers had an offer rejected to cover 20 per cent of his salary (Estadio Deportivo, 16 July), but with the club eager to move Jordan on, an offer covering 40-50 per cent should be enough to secure the move.

Mohammed Diomande is the only midfield recruit at the Ibrox so far, but at 22-years-old will not make up for the experience Clement has lost through departures this summer.

Jordan was a first-team regular for Sevilla before last season and his years of top-flight experience will be a welcome addition to the side.

Any deal is likely to include a buy-option in the region of £2.5-4m (Rangers News, 25 July), and would be a low-risk move for the Gers.

A move for Jordan makes sense for all parties and is one Clement should prioritise as he looks to bolster his midfield ahead of the new season.

In other Rangers news, the Gers are in advanced talks with a Premier League club to sign ace on a season-long loan.
