Arsenal are now set to make an improved offer to sign a player who has been compared to Joao Cancelo – after seeing an opening bid worth £17m rejected.
Mikel Arteta and Edu appear to be searching the transfer market for a new option to play on the left of defence, as Bayern Munich target Oleksandr Zinchenko and Jakub Kiwior could be sold.
The Gunners have seemingly found their man, and after having an opening bid rejected, Arsenal are now set to return with a second offer…
Arsenal prepare improved Ferdi Kadioglu bid
A story from Hurriyet in Turkey claims that Arsenal are now going to return to the negotiating table with a new bid to sign Fenerbahce No.7 Ferdi Kadioglu.
The Turkey international – who is currently playing at UEFA EURO 2024 – was recently the subject of a failed £17m offer from Arsenal, according to another Turkish news outlet in Anjansspor.
Now – however – Hurriyet believe the Gunners plan to make another bid, with Fenerbahce hoping to earn over €30m (£26m) from selling Kadioglu.
The man from Arnhem scored three goals and also provided five assists in 51 appearances throughout the 2023/24 campaign, while operating in an inverted left-back role.
Jose Mourinho – who recently became manager of the Turkish giants – wants the Arsenal target to stay, although Hurriyet interestingly add that Fenerbahce are now more likely to sell Kadioglu after signing a direct replacement Levent Mercan.
Mikel Arteta could sign Joao Cancelo 2.0
The 24-year-old is yet to become a household name in football despite his obvious talent, so Arsenal fans may appreciate a comparison to a better known player to give an understanding of how he operates.
Interestingly, Kadioglu has been compared to Portugal international Cancelo – who Arteta has previously tried to sign from Manchester City – in a scouting report from Breaking the Lines.
Both players are described as being similar due to their vastly impressive technical ability, while the pair are also inverted left-backs who tend to cut inside the pitch on their stronger right foot.
