The Arne Slot era at Liverpool is underway, but the Dutch manager is yet to really make his mark on this squad.
Indeed, Slot is yet to make a signing as the manager of Liverpool, but it’s not been for the lack of trying.
The Reds have targeted a number of players already this summer, but, for some reason, these deals keep getting away from them.
Leny Yoro and Joao Neves are two Liverpool targets who look set to move elsewhere, and according to Gazzetta, the Reds are set to miss out on another ‘world class’ player.
Teun Koopmeiners set to snub Liverpool
Liverpool have been strongly linked with a move for Teun Koopmeiners in recent weeks.
However, it looks as though Juventus have now won the race for the midfielder.
Arne Slot is said to have had a conversation with Koopmeiners about joining Liverpool, but the Dutchman has apparently now promised Juve that he will join them this summer.
Of course, a fee still needs to be agreed between Juventus and Atalanta, but this deal does look to be moving in the right direction.
Teun Koopmeiners may be making a mistake
Teun Koopmeiners may be making a mistake here.
As alluring a club as Juventus are and as settled as Koopmeiners is in Italy, his career could stagnate in Turin.
Juventus have already signed Douglas Luiz and Khephren Thuram this summer, their midfield roster is absolutely stacked right now, and if Koopmeiners comes in, there’s no guarantee that he’ll start.
Meanwhile, replacing Wataru Endo as Liverpool’s starting defensive midfield option, with all due respect, isn’t that daunting of a task, and Koopmeiners would surely be a starter at Anfield under Arne Slot.
Unfortuantely, it sounds as though Slot hasn’t been able to convince Koopmeiners to come to Anfield, and a move to Juventus seems to be almost inevitable.
