Arsenal’s transfer window hasn’t quite got going yet.
The north London club have been slow starters this summer, but it may not be long before we see Arsenal announce a new arrival.
Indeed, the Gunners are said to be edging ever closer to signing Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna, and according to Dean Jones, speaking on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast, Arsenal may announce the arrival of the Italian this time next week.
Jones says that there are some final details to be thrashed out and that Calafiori isn’t ready to be unveiled just yet, but we may see an announcement in one weeks’ time.
Riccardo Calafiori announcement could come next week
Jones shared what he knows about the ‘amazing’ player.
“I think there’s just some final details to be thrashed out. Calafiori isn’t in a position to be there to be unveiled yet anyway. I would say in a week maybe we will see some proper progress on this one and an announcement,” Jones said.
Arsenal need signings soon
Calafiori may be the first signing Arsenal make this summer, but the Gunners need to get a lot of their other business done promptly as well.
Indeed, it’s so important to get new signings in for pre-season and up to speed, and with every passing day is another chance to embed these players passing Arsenal by.
Of course, getting these deals done quickly is much easier said than done, but with the new Premier League season just a month away, it’s fair to say that Arsenal need to get a move on.
Calafiori will have plenty of time to prepare for that first Premier League game if he signs next week, and Arsenal need to make sure that their other signings are in a similar position and able to get a decent pre-season under their belt.
Calafiori to Arsenal has been a long-running saga, but it looks as though it could be done next week.
