Report: Everton can now sign 22-goal striker for nothing after special clause activated

Everton have already made a couple of moves in the transfer market this summer and they could now land another attacker for absolutely nothing.

The Toffees have been quick to act this summer as talk of a takeover continues and Sean Dyche looks to get to work on improving his squad.

Everton have finally landed striker Iliman Ndiaye after years of being keen on him, while Aston Villa youngster Tim Iroegbunam has also signed.

But as always, Everton want more and with just over a month until the season starts, time is of the essence when it comes to new signings.

However, according to a report from TipsBladet, one reported target could now be much easier to sign.

Everton can sign Martin Braithwaite for free

According to the Danish outfit TipsBladet, Braithwaite has exercised a clause in his contract with Espanyol that allows him to now leave for free.

After scoring 22 goals for the Spanish outfit last season, Braithwaite has once again put himself in the shop window.

Indeed, our previous exclusive report on TBR Football has linked Southampton and others with a move for the former Barcelona forward.

This development comes as it was reported just a few weeks back that Braithwaite would be available for as little as £600k this summer.

Now, though, it looks like the landscape has changed again and he’s available for free.

Everton, then, might well see value in taking a punt on the striker.

However, at 33, there is cause for alarm for Toffees fans who will be keen to see players signed who can make an impact and maintain a re-sale value.

Braithwaite has only ever really been prolific at Espanyol as well, and the last time he was in England with Middlesbrough, it proved a tough ask for him.

Sean Dyche, then, might well feel there are better options out there.
