Report: Former Liverpool player is now stopping Arsenal from signing 'electric' £35m attacker this summer

A former Liverpool player could reportedly deny Arsenal the opportunity to sign a rumoured attacking target this summer.

The Gunners are in the market for a new forward in the transfer window, with Mikel Arteta keen to add the likes of Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Martinelli, with a centre-forward the main attacking priority for Arsenal.

One such name linked with the north London side in recent weeks is Borussia Dortmund attacker Karim Adeyemi, who has emerged as a target for Arsenal, with the Germany international also keen on joining a UEFA Champions League side.

However, Adeyemi’s potential departure has now hit a big roadblock for Arsenal.

Dortmund manager Nuri Sahin keen to keep Arsenal-linked Adeyemi

According to Bild, newly-appointed Dortmund manager Nuri Sahin is eager to keep hold of Adeyemi with pre-season just around the corner, with the ‘electric’ forward likely to get a chance to impress the former Liverpool midfielder.

The 22-year-old is yet to set the world on fire since joining Dortmund in 2022, yet a change of management and new additions could be what unlocks Adeyemi’s potential with the Bundesliga giants.

As for Arsenal, news that Sahin wants to keep hold of Adeyemi will come as a blow for the north London side, who could have benefited greatly from the addition of a versatile forward who is known for his athleticism.

Indeed, Arteta has shown on the training pitch that he can get the best out of attackers, and Adeyemi is a player who could have thrived in north London if given the chance next season.

Adeyemi staying at Dortmund is a huge blow for the Gunners

An attacker is clearly a priority for Arsenal this summer, with the north London side needing more options in their forward ranks if they’re to best Manchester City in the new Premier League season.

And Dortmund keeping hold of Adeyemi will be viewed as a blow for the Gunners, with the 22-year-old Germany international a talent who could have thrived in England under Arteta at Arsenal.

With Adeyemi set to stay at Dortmund, a new plan once again must be drawn up at Arsenal for which attacker they will target this summer, a list that’s growing worryingly short ahead of the new campaign.
