‘Poor’: Tim Sherwood says one Arsenal player simply hasn’t been good this season

Arsenal have picked up 10 points from a possible 12 so far this season, but there’s still a feeling that things aren’t quite clicking for the Gunners.
Indeed, Arsenal have been picking up results, but some of their performances as of late have been far from convincing.
Arsenal drew 0-0 with Atalanta in the Champions League this week, while their win against Tottenham came courtesy of a set-piece rather than intricate attacking play.
Speaking on Premier League Productions, Tim Sherwood has been discussing Arsenal’s attacking issues, and he’s pointed out two problems.
Sherwood says that Arsenal are seriously missing Martin Odegaard at the moment, while he also pointed towards Gabriel Martinelli’s recent form as a problem, labelling the Brazilian as ‘poor’ so far this season.
Gabriel Martinelli has been poor
Sherwood shared his verdict on the winger and Arsenal’s attack as a whole.
“Odegaard is a big miss. He is a huge miss because of creating chances. We saw it in midweek there as well against Atalanta. We know they are solid. I think they have got the best five in the league, you know, very solid,” Sherwood said.
They have protection in front when Declan’s there, but what they lack is Odegaard’s control. He takes control of the ball. He allows Saka to make runs. He finds him with passes.”
“Martinelli has been poor. I think Kai Havertz lives off Odegaard’s service as well. He’s going to be a huge miss, so you wouldn’t blame Arsenal going there looking for just a point because some of their most creative players, certainly with Odegaard, is going to be missing.”
Gabriel Martinelli could be dropped
Sherwood isn’t wrong, Martinelli hasn’t been great this season, and his place in the team could soon be at stake.
Raheem Sterling wasn’t signed on deadline day just to sit on the bench, he will be pushing for a place in the Arsenal XI soon enough, and that could lead to Martinelli coming out of the side.
Don’t be shocked if Martinelli is dropped by Mikel Arteta if his form doesn’t pick up.
