If there’s any player in the Premier League you don’t want to annoy, it’s Virgil van Dijk.
The Liverpool captain is one of the scariest players in the game today. Van Dijk might be the strongest player in the world, and he can physically dominate any of his opponents.
It would take a brave man to purposefully get on the wrong side of Van Dijk.
Unfortunately, Levi Colwill has been in that exact position, albeit accidentally.
Indeed, speaking to TNT Sports, Colwill has shared how he accidentally annoyed Van Dijk on the pitch last season.

How Levi Colwill annoyed Virgil van Dijk
Colwill shared the story of how he accidentally annoyed Van Dijk.
The Chelsea defender says that he told Van Dijk to shut up while he was marking him, but he quickly realised his error.
Colwill went on to say that he actually does have serious admiration for Van Dijk, and he regrets disrespecting him.
“When was the first time you played against an idol, someone you really rated?” Colwill was asked.
“Probably when we played Liverpool last season. I played against Virg for the first time and I remember marking him in the box. He said something to me, and I said ‘shut up’ accidentally or something like that and he just looked at me like ‘who is this little boy?’ and I was like ‘ah, I’ve disrespected him’. It is what it is. My bad, you just look at him and think I want to be like that or better when I’m older if I could,’ Colwill said.
Liverpool like Levi Colwill
Colwill wound Van Dijk up during their game last season, and, ironically, in another world, these two could’ve been teammates.
Indeed, Liverpool have been linked with Colwill in the past, and the Reds are still admirers of Colwill.
Chelsea, of course, didn’t sell Colwill to Liverpool, and he has since established himself as one of the Blues’ most important players, starting all 11 league games so far this season.
Liverpool are looking for a new centre-back, and who knows? Perhaps Colwill could once again be on the Reds’ transfer radar as Liverpool look to bolster their backline.
If Colwill does eventually end up being a Liverpool player, he may have to have a bit of an awkward conversation with Van Dijk about this incident.
Colwill has a bright future in the game, and, as he says, he hopes to become a player at Van Dijk’s level once he’s fully developed and matured as a player.
