Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed Daniel Levy has a “turnover” problem with behind-the-scenes staff at Tottenham.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted Spurs will be in the “final stages” of agreeing a deal to appoint a new commercial head after a key departure.
Former chief commercial officer Todd Kline resigned from his position at Tottenham in February ahead of a move across London to rivals Chelsea and are yet to announce a successor.
Wyness previously told Football Insider on Monday (21 October) that he expects Tottenham to appoint a new chief commercial offer “within a month”.
Spurs banked £227.7million in commercial revenue during the 2022-23 campaign, up from £183.5million in the previous season.
That figure is set to grow even further after the club agreed a deal with the local council to double the number of non-football events held at their money-spinning stadium in recent months.
Tottenham in ‘final stages’ of recruiting commercial chief, says Wyness
Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I’ve got no information on who the new chief commercial officer will be.
“It will be a good appointment, I’m sure, Daniel Levy is very good at getting the right people in.
“But he never seems to hang on to them for long – either in the commercial area or the operational area.
“It seems to be a pretty quick turnover of two to three years for each position.
“It’s an area they need to get someone in place quickly, and I’m sure they are in the final stages of doing that – but I’ve got no names just yet.”
