However, there could be a stunning move in this summer’s transfer market about to unfold on Merseyside following the recent developments involving Martin Zubimendi.

It looked as if Slot’s patience was about to be rewarded this summer with the addition of a new number six.
But Liverpool were rejected by Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi earlier this week as their hopes fell flat instantly.
However, according to Diario Vasco, the Reds are now set to make a staggering return to the table for Zubimendi.
It is claimed Liverpool are now ready to pay the full €60m (£51m) asking price for the midfielder or even potentially more.
But the feeling among those on Merseyside is that Zubimendi will provide them with the same answer as they have failed to convince him up to now.
The report even claims the Spain international could now put pen to paper on a new deal at Sociedad.

If Zubimendi is going to reject the Reds once again then it has to put a lid on their efforts to sign the 25-year-old.
Real Sociedad now look set to lose Mikel Merino to Arsenal so losing another top midfielder is not going to be on their minds.
There has even been the suggestion that Slot is ready to put his faith in Liverpool’s Wataru Endo this season after being rejected by Zubimendi.
If Liverpool are able to pull this off then it will be an absolutely stunning turnaround in the space of a couple of days, but Liverpool fans probably shouldn’t get their hopes up.
