Report: Liverpool staff really like £50m player who is 'as good as Jude Bellingham'
Liverpool have already set their sights on Takefusa Kubo as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah amid his contract situation.
Liverpool appear to already be looking at potential new signings with the futures of three of their stars currently up in the air.
Mohamed Salah‘s future is a big topic on Merseyside at this moment in time with less than a year for the Liverpool chiefs to get something sorted.
The Egyptian sent the media into a frenzy with his post-match comments after the Man United game, with Steve Nicol even thinking he saw a hint from Salah.
And, there has been conflicting reports when it comes to exactly what situation Liverpool are currently at in talks with the attacker.
Steve McManaman has claimed that talks are already underway with Salah, while Fabrizio Romano has stated that Liverpool talks are set to come in the next days, weeks and months.
However, the latest report states that Liverpool have already started looking at one particular replacement in particular…
Liverpool eyeing a player who’s ‘as good as Jude Bellingham’
Liverpool looked at signing Martin Zubimendi in the summer and believe he would be a good signing for them, and a transfer was close but the midfielder decided to stay in Spain.
An alternative wasn’t sought after as Arne Slot isn’t fond of signing players for the sake of it.
Interestingly, it appears as if the Reds have got their eye on a potential Mohamed Salah replacement…
According to Caught Offside, Liverpool are looking at Takefusa Kubo.
Due to the Egyptian’s situation it is anticipated that LFC will also look for another wide-forward, with Real Sociedad’s Takefusa Kubo having admirers at the club.
How good is Takefusa Kubo?
The 23-year-old has appeared 89 times for current club Real Sociedad, scoring 17 goals and laying on 14 assists.
Now, those certainly aren’t stats that make you think he can replace Mohamed Salah at Liverpool but the Merseyside club do have a knack of turning good players into superstars.
He’s very similar to Salah in terms of how he operates, often cutting in from the right onto his favoured left foot, as well as making use of his pace, quick feet and dribbling ability as a nightmare for defenders.
Interestingly, when speaking on the El Tel & Jon’s La Liga Weekly podcast, Darren Gibson hailed Kubo for his display in September’s 2-1 loss for Real Sociedad against Real Madrid.
“As good as Jude Bellingham has been this year, I think Take Kubo has been on (his) level in every game he’s played”.
