View: Friedkins can bin Everton dud after latest transfer speculation

Everton have been linked with a move for Lyon striker Georges Mikautadze and it could pave the way for Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s exit from Goodison Park.

Since The Friedkin Group’s takeover, there has been an air of uncertainty over the future of Calvert-Lewin who is out of contract in the summer.

However, recent links to Lyon forward Mikautadze (Foot Mercato, 26 December), could pave the way for his exit from Merseyside as a new era gets underway.

Calvert-Lewin has endured a tough season for the Toffees and this development could be the perfect opportunity for a new beginning for the 27-year-old.

Mikautadze could transform Everton

Attacking concerns are still present at Goodison Park with the Toffees’ inability to offer a significant threat on show far too often with four of their last five games resulting in a goalless showing.

Calvert-Lewin has played a huge part in that having struggled to pose a regular goal threat and it’s a similar story for many other forward players who just haven’t been able to hit the standards required.

Beto could also depart in January according to Tuttosport (24 December) and, if so, it would highlight the need for attacking reinforcements in January if they aren’t already present.

Signing a natural goalscorer capable of influencing games could prove crucial to Everton’s hopes of avoiding relegation and Mikautadze fits the bill.

With eight goal contributions this season, the Georgian international has showcased his ability to offer an attacking threat and it’s a deal that the Toffees should be looking to entertain.
