Kevin Thelwell risks getting off on the wrong footing with The Friedkin Group at Everton if he continues to persist with his stance on Beto.
According to Tuttosport [24 December], Torino are prepared to offer the 26-year-old a return to Serie A in a loan deal until the end of the season and are willing to cover the entirety of his wages for the spell.
However, the Italian news outlet also reported that the Blues will only entertain a permanent departure, and the Serie A outfit would need to part ways with £16.5million to sanction a January transfer.
Furthermore, Tuttosport provided a fresh update on Friday (27 November), as relayed by TuttoMercato, stating that Torino will offer to pay a loan fee in the region of £2.4-£3.3m on top of his wages to secure the move.
Thelwell cannot afford to turn down this offer for a player so eager to leave Goodison Park.
Kevin Thelwell must allow Beto to leave Everton for Torino
When all is said and done, Everton can add Beto to the long list of transfer acquisitions who have failed to meet the mark on Merseyside.
The Guinea-Bissau international scored 21 goals in 62 appearances for Udinese before earning a big-money move to Goodison Park, but has since only managed to find the back of the net on seven occasions in 49 outings for the Toffees.
While Thelwell will undoubtedly try to recoup as much as he can for Beto, his stock could not be any lower, and the sooner the sporting director admits defeat in his efforts to receive 63 per cent of the £28.5m paid to Udinese, the better.
Torino are offering a once-in-a-lifetime offer given the circumstances – barring his 94th-minute equaliser in the 1-1 draw against Fulham in October, his impact for Sean Dyche has been virtually non-existent.
Goodison News understands that the Blues boss considers Beto very much a part of his plans for the season; the sentiment is not shared, and his frustrations at Everton are heading towards a likely January departure.
All in all, Torino’s offer is a win-win for the Toffees – should Beto rediscover his goalscoring form in Italy, Thelwell will be able to demand a larger fee than the £16.5m he wants now – or even better, reintegrate the forward into the first-team fold next season.
In other Everton news, contract news has emerged at the Blues as a ‘serious’ Jarrad Branthwaite claim has been made.
