Newcastle effectively agreed on everything to sign Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, according to TEAMtalk.

The news outlet reports that in the summer of 2024, the Tyneside outfit was close to signing the England international, but they were unable to convince the striker, who was demanding a salary upwards of £100,000 per week.

Despite this, the Magpies remain “attentive” to the 27-year-old’s situation at the Merseyside outfit, with his contract expiring at the end of the season.

The Blues aren’t keen on selling Calvert-Lewin for a cut price in January and risk losing him for free come the end of the season.

The Toffees have relied on the Englishman to lead their line over the last few years but haven’t gotten much from him in return.

With his return from injury and consistent minutes in the starting lineup, the striker has still been unable to have a significant enough impact at the Merseyside outfit.

The Blues are one of the worst-scoring teams in the Premier League, with the 27-year-old finding the back of the net just twice all campaign.

Everton are stepping into a new era with the arrival of The Friedkin Group (TFG), and the Americans need to make a decision regarding Calvert-Lewin.

The English centre-forward is Sean Dyche’s first choice, but with his deal set to end in the coming months, the Toffees have a dilemma on their hands.

Beto and Armando Broja are the other two number nines at the Blues, but their futures seem to be open at the moment as well.

If Calvert-Lewin is going to leave, then the Merseyside outfit have to make plans to replace him, and it would be prudent for them to know the striker’s intentions sooner rather than later.
