Jordan Pickford is invaluable to Everton after his performance against Manchester City on Boxing Day, Richard Buxton says.
The shot-stopper denied Erling Haaland from the spot and secured a point for the Toffees in the 1-1 draw against Pep Guardiola’s team in the Premier League at the Etihad Stadium.
Buxton feels the England international’s value is incalculable and believes the Blues won’t find a better keeper than him for a while.
On his Bluesky account [26 December], the journalist wrote: “His value to Everton is actually incalculable at this stage.
“No matter what offers might be on the table, they won’t find a better goalkeeper for a good while.”
Everton can’t find Jordan Pickford replacement anytime soon
Pickford has been the number one at the Merseyside outfit for around a decade now, and no other goalkeeper has been able to take the spot off him.
Over the last few seasons, the Toffees have been in a few relegation battles, and the Englishman has pulled off some brilliant saves to help the team survive the drop.
In the current campaign, the 30-year-old has once again been instrumental for Sean Dyche’s side, which was also on show in the 0-0 draw against Arsenal on 14 December.
Everton fans are certainly grateful to have someone like Pickford, and the Goodison faithful surely appreciate him.
The Toffees have done brilliantly in the last few fixtures to take points away from Mikel Arteta’s team, Chelsea and Man City.
Dyche might not be a popular figure at the Merseyside outfit due to his style of play, but the conservative approach has worked wonders for them recently.
It wouldn’t be surprising to see a top team make an approach for Pickford in the near future, but the Blues would do well to keep a hold of him.
