Report: Napoli chief shuts door on Victor Osimhen’s permanent transfer to Galatasaray

Napoli’s Sporting Director Giovanni Manna has shut the door on Victor Osimhen’s proposed transfer to Galatasaray as they do not have the funds to prosecute the transfer, Soccernet.ng reports.

Osimhen sealed a season-long loan deal to Galatasaray during the summer transfer window in one of the biggest transfer heists in Turkish football history. And since he joined, the 25-year-old hitman has become an integral member of the team.

Osimhen has registered eight goals and four assists in nine appearances for the Super Lig champions this season.

Due to his brilliant performances, there have been talks that Galatasaray are looking to make the deal permanent. Even their close rivals Fenerbahce have entered the mix, with both clubs plotting €50 million bids for Osimhen.

However, that is even €25 million below the fee that Napoli bought him four years ago. As such, they are unlikely to accept it.

Now, in a new development, according to Webaslan, Napoli’s Sporting Director Manna has stated that they have closed negotiations with Galatasaray due to their lack of funds to process the deal.

“Our door is closed to negotiations. Galatasaray does not have the budget to pay this amount at this moment. The fee is €75 million, there are many teams that want Osimhen. They are ready to pay this amount,” Manna said, per Webaslan.

Coughing out €75 million for any player would potentially land any Turkish club in a financial crisis. Moreover, Osimhen has always wanted to move to the Premier League. So, if a decent offer arrives, he will surely leave Galatasaray.
