Adidas have been in talks with Rangers about becoming their new kit supplier, according to Footy Headlines.
The outlet reported on its website on Monday (14 October) that the Gers’ current deal with Castore is set to end at the end of the 2024/25 season, with uncertainty around who will be making their kits next season.
Although Adidas are understood to have held discussions with the Light Blues, the most likely outcome at this stage will be that Philippe Clement’s side remain with Castore for the 2025/26 season at Ibrox.
Who makes Rangers’ kits at Ibrox?
Castore certainly isn’t the most popular kit manufacturer in football currently, with fans and players alike repeatedly slamming the quality of the company’s shirts, primarily Aston Villa players last season.
While all three of the kits they have produced for Rangers this season are strong offerings, there is a feeling that they often play things incredibly safe rather than pushing the boat out with exciting and out-there designs.
Partnering with Adidas of course would also have a major brand appeal for the Light Blues. Football’s biggest clubs tend to have their kits supplied by one of Nike or Adidas and the Gers would financially benefit from that sort of arrangement.
Of course, at this stage, that sort of deal does appear unlikely, but a year is a long time in football and a lot can change. These are the sort of off-the-field decisions that the Gers have to get right as they look to close the gap to Celtic however.
With a lack of behind-the-scenes structure at Ibrox currently with so many roles unfilled after the exits of John Bennett and James Bisgrove, it isn’t yet clear when or how these decisions will be made in the coming months.
Hopefully, Rangers manage to find a way to get their ducks in a row sooner rather than later.
In other Rangers news, the Light Blues are understood to have hired a new agency to help fill backroom roles at Ibrox
