Report shares Sean Dyche response to question on exit-linked Everton ace

Everton manager Sean Dyche has provided an update regarding the future of striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

As reported by BBC Sport Merseyside (15 August), Dyche has said the club is “always” talking to Calvert-Lewin in regards to his future. In addition, he noted that the forward has been working hard and has looked sharp in pre-season.

This comes after a report suggesting that Calvert-Lewin’s transfer status was a real priority for the club (Liverpool Echo, 14 August).

Everton monitor Dominic Calvert-Lewin situation

This is a saga that’s been ongoing for a long time now. Even back in July, Manchester United were reportedly aiming to sign Calvert-Lewin and Jarrad Branthwaite in a double deal (Bryan King, 11 July). Alas, through all of the noise and confusion, the 27-year-old is still on the books – for the time being, at least.

It’s well-documented that he’s had his problems with injuries in recent seasons. During the 2023/24 campaign, though, he still managed seven goals and two assists in 32 Premier League appearances (FBref). When you consider the relegation battle that the Toffees were involved in for the majority of the campaign (largely due to the eight combined points they had docked for two separate PSR charges), it’s pretty clear to see that a striker such as Calvert-Lewin can be a real difference maker.

With that being said, it should come as no surprise that there’s uncertainty. We’re talking about a forward that is more than capable of playing, and starting, for his country when fully fit. Hopefully, regardless of where he ends up, he’s back to his absolute best.

In other Everton news, Jarrad Branthwaite’s sale update has been shared by Alan Myers.
