An Everton insider has said new legal developments involving Farhad Moshiri are nothing to do with the Toffees, according to the Liverpool Echo.
The outlet reported on its website on Tuesday (10 September) that insiders close to the Blues insist Alisher Usmanov’s decision to sue Mohsiri is a matter between the two parties and not the Toffees.
Reports emerged from The Athletic (10 September) that Usmanov has taken the legal case against the owner with Moshiri’s company Somelior Holdings Limited listed as one of six defendants in the case.
Potential bidders to take over the Toffees have been made aware of the legal case with at least one potential buyer discussing concerns over whether payment made to Moshiri could break sanctions laws if it in turn was used to pay Usmanov as part of the legal case.
Everton takeover update emerges at Goodison Park
Everton supporters must just be praying for a dull day at Goodison Park. The last couple of years have been dominated by constant drama both on and off the field that has become all too familiar for fans.
On the face of it, this legal case against Moshiri only adds more fuel to the fire on Merseyside but the insider’s insistence that this development has nothing directly to do with the Toffees could well be a welcome boost.
The only fear that will remain on the blue half of Merseyside is that Sean Dyche’s side could well remain indirectly impacted by this legal action if potential bidders pull out of the race to acquire Moshiri’s controlling stake.
Hopefully, someone will be able to strike a deal with the current Blues owner sooner rather than later so that any fears of Everton being left in limbo under the current ownership can be put to bed before more issues crop up.
Everton fans will be desperate for the international break to come to an end so that they can once again focus on the football instead of off-of-the-pitch matters.
