Report shares what Hagi has told Rangers as exile continues

Ianis Hagi has told Rangers he would be “willing” to come to an agreement about his impending wage increase if it means returning to first-team football, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper reported via their website on 24 September that although Hagi’s wage hike [Daily Record, 13 August] would come into play after his next appearance for the Gers, the Romanian has said he would be open to negotiating a deal.

The attacking midfielder has currently been banished to Rangers’ B team and has been desperate to return to Philippe Clement’s first team fold.

Rangers should reintegrate Ianis Hagi negotiations

Over the course of the summer window, it was evident that Rangers wanted rid of the attacking midfielder ,with Hagi even rejecting an exit to Rapid Bucharest before the window shut [Sky Sports, 26 August].

Since then, Hagi has been banished to the B team. The 25-year-old has been in stellar form recently and has found himself among the team’s best performers in each game played.

The Gers spent a lot of the summer window looking for a new number 10 and eventually ended up with Nedim Bajrami, who joined for around £3.3million [Gianluca Di Marzio, 30 August] in what feels like a lot of money for the Gers to have spent, especially with Hagi ready and waiting.

The most likely reason behind the Belgian’s insistence not to play Hagi is his impending wage hike but, if the Romanian is happy to try and figure out an agreement, it feels silly for the club to not at least entertain the conversation.

He could help provide further cover in attack and, if his form managed to carry over into the first team, he’d perhaps even help the club on their way to title number 56.
