Report shares what Man Utd intend to do after Everton reject Branthwaite bid

Manchester United are expected to make a second bid for Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite after seeing their first offer rejected, according to HITC.

The online source reported [15 June] that Man United are keen to make an improved offer after their first bid was rejected by the Toffees, though club sources have stressed that other options could be pursued instead.

Everton are said to be holding out for at least £70million for their star defender this summer, as per The Telegraph’s James Ducker [14 June], with United’s opening offer worth a total of £43million including add-ons.

Everton stand strong on Jarrad Branthwaite transfer stance as Manchester United lurk

The ongoing transfer saga surrounding the 21-year-old defender is set to continue long into the summer transfer window, having already agreed personal terms with the Red Devils [The Times].

Branthwaite proved himself to be one of the most talented defenders in the Premier League last season, creating a formidable partnership with James Tarkowski and goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

The Toffees only conceded more goals than Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool, with the centre-back putting his body on the line for the Goodison Park faithful as they battled in a relegation scrap for most of the campaign.

It is no surprise to see so much interest in the young defender, with the club’s current financial status making it much harder to keep hold of their prized players this summer.

However, it was a big surprise to many that he was not called up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad ahead of Euro 2024 in Germany, especially with Harry Maguire unavailable.

Both Branthwaite and Amadou Onana have been linked with big-money moves away from Goodison Park in order to ease Profit and Sustainability Rules worries, though the former’s exit would be a massive blow.

With Man United expected to make a second bid following their unsuccessful £43m offer, the Toffees must stand strong on their evaluation if Branthwaite is to be sold this summer.

In other Everton news, Vatche Manoukian has been told to increase his takeover bid amid an £800million claim.
