Report shares which club have made 'Concrete' offer for exit-linked Rangers man

Aris Limassol are understood to be the club to submit a “concrete” transfer offer for Rangers defender Connor Goldson, according to the Rangers Review.

The outlet reported on its website on Thursday (25 July) that while the English defender is yet to undergo a medical with the Cypriot side, they have made a genuine offer to end his time in Glasgow.

Goldson had flown to Cyprus previously following the initial interest from Aris but did travel with the rest of his Rangers teammates for their pre-season clash with Birmingham City at St Andrew’s.

Philippe Clement confirmed ahead of kickoff in Wednesday (24 July) night’s game that a concrete offer had been received for the centre-back, but did not confirm which club it had come from [Rangers TV, 24 July].

While most supporters would have anticipated that it was Aris who had made the offer for Goldosn this summer, this report is the first indication that the Cypriot club are the team to push forward with talks.

There are several other clubs understood to be interested in signing the 31-year-old this summer, namely Birmingham City who have been consistently linked with a move to bring the defender back south of the border [Birmingham Mail, 8 July].

In an ideal world, the Gers would have hoped that Aris’ opening offer would start a bit of a bidding war for their vice-captain to drive up his valuation, but it doesn’t feel as though there has been much interest in his signature whatsoever.

Ultimately, the most important thing for Clement and his recruitment team is that they appear to be close to getting another big wage off of their bill.

Any money raised by this sale can be reinvested back into signings for the remainder of the transfer window.
