Vaclav Cerny has already handed in his company car ahead of a loan move to Rangers, according to Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung.
The German source reported [25 June] that the Gers and Wolfsburg have come to an agreement over a loan deal, with the player no longer set to be involved in the team photo on Thursday 25 July.
It is understood that there will be no purchase option involved in the move to Ibrox, with the 26-year-old winger joining the Gers on a season-long loan just one year after arriving in the Bundesliga.
Rangers closing in on Vaclav Cerny loan deal
Despite being somewhat of a disappointing signing for the German club, only notching five goals and one assist in 25 Wolfsburg matches, Cerny has the potential to impress in Scotland.
As a left-footed right-winger, the Czechia international will provide Philippe Clement with a very different attacking threat to the likes of Ross McCausland and Scott Wright on the flank.
The winger has proven himself on the international stage, winning 17 caps for his nation and scoring six goals, even playing a small role in Czechia’s Euro 2024 journey.
He played 55 minutes as Czechia played out a 1-1 draw with dark horses Georgia, who were eventually knocked out of the competition by Spain.
With the player now handing in his company car, and the club making the decision to leave Cerny out of the team photo, his move to Ibrox could not be any closer.
The 26-year-old’s ability to play as an attacking midfielder will also come in handy for Clement, especially if Todd Cantwell is to force through an exit this summer [Sky Sports].
Of course, Rangers will be hoping that Cerny rediscovers his form, but fans will need to remind themselves not to fall in love with another loan player after Abdallah Sima’s loan spell at the club.
In other Rangers news, Lawrence Shankland is expected to pay for himself 10 times over in a lottery win for the Gers.
