Report shares why Sevilla need Rangers to take Joan Jordan off their hands

Sevilla are close to failing compliance with La Liga’s 1:1 rules as Rangers close in on signing Joan Jordan, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper reported on 28 July via their website that this is likely one of the main reasons why the Spanish club has such strong motivation for the playmaker to exit this summer.

La Liga’s 1:1 rules outline that for every Euro that the club earns, they can reinvest that same money back into the team.

The report details that the La Liga side are currently £33.8million over theirs at the time of writing and explains why the club wants the Spaniard to depart, even if it’s just for the season.

Joan Jordan to Rangers would be a stellar move

Rangers need reinforcement across the board this summer. Plenty of change has already occurred at the club with a plethora of players both arriving and exiting.

Although change is well needed, there has seemed to be a common theme amongst the arrivals at Ibrox this summer.

The vast majority of those who have joined Rangers this summer have been on the youngster side with Philippe Clement seemingly having one eye on the future.

John Lundtsram and Ryan Jack are just two examples of players who have departed this summer and have been replaced with a younger model in the form of Connor Barron.

And, whilst planning for the future is all well and good, there needs to be an even amount of both experience and potential across the board.

Jordan is 30 years old and has managed to win two Europa League titles. He would slot right into the centre of the Gers’ midfield and could help command the pitch if and when called upon.

In other Rangers news, the Gers have sent a bid for a Liga Portugal forward.
