Report: What Jurrien Timber is doing in pre-season with Arsenal after Euro 2024 snub

Amid all the talk of who Arsenal could sign this summer, Jurrien Timber is quietly preparing to prove just how much he’s been missed.

Along with Kai Havertz, Declan Rice and David Raya, Timber was intended as a signing who could immediately improve Arsenal’s starting eleven.

Mikel Arteta appeared to have huge faith in Timber’s skill set, prepared to play the Dutchman out of position at left-back.

As it was clear again last season, Oleksandr Zinchenko is missing the necessary defensive acumen to be a starter for Arsenal, often found out when facing the biggest of tests.

Timber was capable of providing Zinchenko’s superb ball-playing ability without sacrificing anything defensively – a clear upgrade.

And having effectively missed the entire season through injury, and then having been overlooked for The Netherland’s Euro 2024 squad, the defender has a point to prove.

That being said, CBS Sports has now been providing some insight to Timber’s pre-season plans, and how he intends to bounce back.

Jurrien Timber has already joined up for Arsenal’s pre-season in Marbella

According to the report mentioned, Timber is one of six senior Arsenal players who have already joined up with Arteta in Marbella for pre-season.

Timber began his work on Monday, alongside Ben White, Eddie Nketitah, Reiss Nelson, Emile Smith Rowe and Fabio Vieira – the less said about how much England need White right now, the better.

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard will also join up in the coming days, given Norway didn’t qualify for Euro 2024.

The report also details that Arsenal are keen to sign a new left-back this summer, someone to solve the issue described last season.

But given Timber has joined up early for pre-season, he’ll have the chance to prove to Arteta and Edu – who will arrive in Marbella shortly, that he is the solution to their plans after all.

In truth, Arteta will likely already be confident of that matter, realising that Timber may have made the difference when chasing the league title last season.

Arsenal are actually willing to sell both Kieran Tierney and Zinchenko this summer, meaning Timber could dovetail with the new signing mentioned.
