Man United Exclusive: Big Jarrad Branthwaite update today

Man United are planning to submit a new offer for Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite this week, sources have told Football Insider.

This comes after an initial bid of around £35million plus add-ons was rejected by Everton, who are holding out for a valuation of around £80m for the 21-year-old.

United are hopeful that they can agree to a deal far cheaper than the asking price given the financial issues at Goodison Park.

Sources say the defender has already agreed personal terms over the move, but Everton’s price tag means a full agreement is some distance away.

Branthwaite had his breakthrough season at Goodison Park last time out as he made 41 appearances in all competitions, cementing himself as a crucial player under Sean Dyche.

The centre-back also earned his maiden England call-up and debut, before he was controversially left out of the final Euro 2024 squad.

An £80million valuation is designed to ward off potential suitors and sources say the club do not want their star centre-back leave.

Last season, Everton were docked a total of eight points for two breaches of profit and sustainability rules and are desperate to avoid further punishment.

As a result, Football Insider reported they need to sell at least one star player before the deadline of 30 June, adding to United’s belief that they can secure a cheaper deal.

Having arrived at the club from Carlisle for just £1million in 2020, a sale at any price would represent a huge profit for the club.

Football Insider also revealed that the club could be subject to “cheeky” low-ball bids to sign Amadou Onana given the well-documented financial struggles.

In other news, Everton could be set to sell Ben Godfrey this summer.
