Chelsea feel Bournemouth star Dominic Solanke’s release clause is “prohibitive” to a potential deal, sources have told Football Insider.

The Blues are among the Premier League sides weighing up a potential swoop for the 26-year-old, who started his career at Stamford Bridge.

Bournemouth owner Bill Foley has confirmed the club inserted a release clause worth around £65million into his last contract extension.

Speaking on Solanke’s future, Foley said: “I believe Dom is going to be with us this coming year. He has a release clause, which is very expensive.”

Chelsea are monitoring his situation at the Vitality Stadium but feel the striker’s price tag has prevented them from making a move.

Sources say it would be a surprise if any interested clubs stumped up the cash required to prise Solanke away from Bournemouth.

Football Insider revealed on Sunday (21 July) that Tottenham are also continuing to keep close tabs on the England international.

He hit 19 goals in 38 Premier League appearances last season – his most prolific top-flight campaign.

The forward is under contract at Bournemouth until June 2027 after signing a new deal last September.

Solanke made one senior appearance for Chelsea in 2014 before leaving for Liverpool in 2017 – and joining the Cherries two years later.

Enzo Maresca currently has Nicolas Jackson, Christopher Nkunku and Armando Broja to choose from in attack.
