Tottenham Exclusive: Significant Postecoglou update tonight

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou is not considering quitting the club to take the England job, sources have told Football Insider.

Postecoglou, 58, has been widely linked with the vacancy after the resignation of Gareth Southgate last week.

However, it is believed the Australian is highly unlikely to take the role after just 12 months at Tottenham.

Spurs sources say the club are not even willing to consider compensation offers to release Postecoglou from his contract at the club.

The ex-Celtic boss remains happy in north London after a successful first season in the role.

Speaking about the links last week, Postecoglou said: “I am at the start of pre-season and am the Tottenham manager, so I have got nothing else [on my mind] but trying to bring success to this football club.”

Tottenham finished fifth in the Premier League last term and will play Europa League football in the 2024-25 campaign.

Postecoglou was handed a four-year deal upon his arrival at Spurs having previously operated on short-term and rolling contracts during his time in Scotland.

Southgate left the England job last week after losing the Euro 2024 final against Spain just days earlier.

The Three Lions are ranked fourth in the FIFA World Rankings and are next in action against the Republic of Ireland in September.
