Revealed: Leicester City still expected to land points deduction

Leicester City are still expected to land a points deduction this season, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that he “doesn’t think they’ll get away with it this time.”

The newly promoted Premier League side avoided an initial seven-point deduction after finding a legal loophole in the rules, but they could still be being punished for a separate offence.

If Leicester have recorded losses then they could find themselves under another charge, which could lead to a points deduction still taking place.

In the new accounting period, their losses will be £83million because last season they were in the Championship, rather than the £105million that top flight sides are permitted to lose.

Leicester could be in further trouble with PSR, and it’s expected the club will find out around December.

Leicester City could still end up being punished this season

Leicester managed to earn around £40million due to the departures of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Enzo Maresca to Chelsea.

However, it appears that might not be enough to keep the Foxes out of trouble this time around.

Football Insider previously revealed that Leicester appears to have been “well short” of falling below the spending limit, and they were classed as a Premier League team when their accounts were submitted in June.

Leicester have managed to gain one point from the opening three matches which have left the club 15th in the Premier League table.

Steve Cooper’s side will face Crystal Palace in their next fixture on 14 September.
