Revealed: Liverpool told £40m bid will seal winger deal

Brentford will value Liverpool and Arsenal at more than £40million next summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (9 September) that the Bees have no intention of selling Mbeumo, 25, in the January transfer window.

But the Cameroon international will have just 12 months on his contract at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

Brentford therefore risk another Ivan Toney situation in the next summer window – with the England international departing for Saudi Arabia on transfer deadline day (30 August).

Mbeumo is now attracting interest from top Premier League clubs after his impressive form with Thomas Frank’s side.

Liverpool, Arsenal and Aston Villa are among the sides to be linked with Mbeumo, while Nottingham Forest reportedly saw a £25million bid rejected in the summer window.

Liverpool will have to pay £40m+ Mbeumo asking price next summer

It is believed Brentford will not sell the versatile winger in January – but could soften their stance next summer if he is unwilling to agree a new deal.

The 25-year-old has already hit three goals in three appearances this term, including a brace last time out against Southampton.

Mbeumo has notched 53 goals and 42 assists in 203 games for Brentford since joining in 2019.
