Revealed: Man United pull Casemiro U-turn

Man United expect Casemiro to now stay this season after struggling to find a buyer this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The £70million signing had been put up for sale in this transfer window by United after a dreadful second season at Old Trafford.

The 20-time champions were willing to offload one of their highest earners at an enormous loss to get him off the books.

However, Casemiro has been unable to find a new club willing to pay his fee and wages.

There was early interest from clubs in the Saudi Pro League, but that was not followed up and there is no current prospect of a transfer.

The Brazil international has been featuring in United’s pre-season games and played the full 90 minutes against Man City last weekend in the Community Shield final.

Man United will be keeping Casemiro in the squad

The experienced midfielder impressed during his first season in English football but struggled with the pace of the game last season.

The 32-year-old came under fire from fans and pundits due to his performances during the 2023-24 campaign, which led many to believe he would be sold in this window.

Football Insider revealed that the Premier League giants had informed Casemiro he was free to find another club, with United coaches unable to believe that his “legs have gone.”

With no deal being able to be struck, it appears that Erik ten Hag will now plan for the new campaign with the Brazilian in mind.

Casemiro made 32 appearances across all competitions last season, transitioning into a centre-back role toward the end of the season.
