Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is desperate for a win today as his side take on Aston Villa in what will be a tough game for the Dutchman and his team.
Ten Hag is under massive pressure already this season after yet another inconsistent start to the campaign.
The Dutchman was given a reprieve after winning the FA Cup last season but there is already talk of Gareth Southgate and others being considered by United again.
It’s suggested that it will be Dan Ashworth who has the final say on Ten Hag’s future, with Jim Ratcliffe leaving those in charge of the football side to make that call.
Of course, a trip to Villa Park and a in-form Unai Emery outfit is not ideal for Ten Hag right now.
And predicting the result, former Chelsea man Jason Cundy has suggested more misery for Ten Hag.
Jason Cundy says Aston Villa will beat Manchester United
Speaking on TalkSPORT about the Sunday fixtures, Cundy made reference to Chelsea’s top four hopes as he predicted Villa easing to victory of Man United at Villa Park.
“Villa arriving high after what happened in midweek. They have got a chance to go in the top four.
“Of course, Chelsea play at the same time. If Chelsea drop points, they may well go into the top four. I can’t see anything other than a Aston Villa victory, mate. That’s how it looks right now.”
Ten Hag walking on the thinnest of ice
If United lose today and lose comfortably, then you’d have to suggest Erik ten Hag is on his very last life.
Performances have been terrible for most of the season and it’s not like he’s not been backed either, with players he obviously fancies being signed in the summer.
This is yet another must win game for Ten Hag. It’s just a case of whether his players want it and will put in the performance to save him.
If not, with an international break looming, United’s higher-ups might well make a decision.
