Keith Jackson has blasted Rangers and Philippe Clement as “rotten” after their 1-0 loss at Rugby Park on Sunday (20 October).

The Gers failed to capitalise on the opportunity they were handed by Celtic drawing against Aberdeen the previous day.

Clement’s choices in the game weren’t up to much either and, while speaking on the Daily Record’s Hotline Live (20 October), journalist Jackson made his thoughts about the Ibrox outfit very clear.

“Clement had promised by October that you would see the real Rangers,” Jackson said.

“Is this his version of the real Rangers? Because they’re rotten and right now I think Rangers’ problem is fending off Dundee United to stay in third rather than it is to get in between Aberdeen and Celtic at the top. They are miles off it.”

Jackson added: “The two teams they were trailing behind at the top of the table, it was the perfect result from a Rangers perspective – they’ve both dropped points on the same day there was a chance to eat into both rather than just trying to catch one.”

Philippe Clement needs to work his magic on Rangers soon

Rangers have been rather underwhelming this term because of several reasons. One, for example, is their inability to win games when it matters most.

This has had a major toll on their position in the table and has likely affected their motivation.

Their two losses in the league have also come at the most pivotal points of their campaign thus far. The first coming against Celtic in the Old Firm where they were beaten 3-0, and then their most recent clash against Kilmarnock where they lost 1-0.

Each of these games had plenty of pressure riding upon them and it seems that Rangers can’t handle it when that happens.

Cyriel Dessers’ recent lack of goalscoring form has also resulted in the Gers not having much of a focal point in their attack.

His movement on and off the ball has also been off the pace this term which has no doubt made matters worse.

There’s still time for things to change this season but if things don’t start to get into motion soon, they could find themselves scrapping for a top-four spot, never mind the title.

In other Rangers news, Jim White believes the Ibrox outfit have hit a “crisis” point.
