Ruud van Nistelrooy sends farewell message after Man United news confirmed

Ruud van Nistelrooy has taken to social media to address Man United fans after he was dismissed by the club.

Former Man United striker Van Nistelrooy, 48, was brought in over the summer as a member of Erik ten Hag’s coaching staff following a disappointing end to last season.

Unfortunately for Ten Hag, this season began just as poorly, leading to his dismissal after overseeing the 20-time Premier League champions’ worst-ever start.

Van Nistelrooy was subsequently appointed interim manager, taking Man United on an impressive unbeaten run, winning three and drawing one of his four games at the helm.

Despite his impressive tenure, new manager Ruben Amorim decided against keeping the club legend at Man United and he was dismissed upon his arrival.

Amorim will no doubt be grateful to Van Nistelrooy for steadying the ship somewhat and improving morale at the club following their dismal start to the season.

Clearly devastated that he was forced out for the club, the Dutchman took to Instagram to address fans and thank them for their support.

In the heartfelt caption, he says, “To everyone at Manchester United Football Club, in particular the backroom staff, the players and the fans. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your incredible efforts and support.

“It has been a privilege and honour to represent the club as a player, coach and manager, and I will always cherish the memories we have shared together.

“M.U.F.C will always have a special place in my heart, and I hope there are many more glory days at Old Trafford very soon – not only because I want the club to do well, but because you all deserve it! All the best and take care, Ruud.”
