Jason Cundy is fearful for Chelsea going into the Everton clash on Sunday due to the Blues’ “shocking” record at Goodison Park.
The Toffees will welcome Enzo Maresca’s team in the Premier League on 22 December after holding Arsenal to a 0-0 draw in their previous match.
Cundy isn’t confident about the West London club’s chances against the Merseyside outfit due to their poor record in L4.
Speaking on talkSPORT [21 December, 19:22], the former Chelsea defender said: “If we beat them, and that’s a big if, by the way, because our record at Goodison Park is nothing short of shocking.
“Our record is terrible, mate. I can’t remember the last time we won there. Yeah, it’s a terrible ground [for Chelsea].”
Everton need to continue taking points against Chelsea
Sean Dyche started the season on a poor note but has slowly started to get points on the board, albeit The Friedkin Group could decide to get rid of him come the end of the season.
While the Goodison faithful aren’t pleased with the English manager’s style of play, what matters right now is avoiding the drop.
The Merseyside outfit are 16th in the English top-flight table, just three points ahead of the relegation zone, and need to increase their gap from the bottom.
Everton have a brilliant record against Chelsea at home, winning five of their last six fixtures in the Premier League.
While the Toffees aren’t in the best of positions at the moment, confidence will be high among the squad after they managed to keep Arsenal at bay.
The Merseyside outfit just need to get through Maresca’s team and Manchester City next before having a relatively easier schedule.
Chelsea have surprised many in the current campaign with their quality of football, and it remains to be seen whether they will be able to break the curse they seemingly have at Goodison.
