‘Skilful’: Cody Gakpo says Liverpool have a player who’s even trickier than Mohamed Salah

Liverpool have a number of very skilful players in their current squad.

The likes of Federico Chiesa, Alexis Mac Allister and Harvey Elliott are all very tricky players with plenty of flair.

However, according to Cody Gakpo, another player in the squad is the most skilful.

Indeed, speaking to Pro Direct Soccer, Gakpo as named Luis Diaz as the most skilful player at Liverpool.

The attacker says that Diaz is the most skilful player at Anfield, and that comes after Diogo Jota claimed that Diaz is indeed the best dribbler at the club.

Luis Diaz is the most skilful player at Liverpool

Gakpo was asked to name the most skilful player at Liverpool, and he wrote Diaz down as his answer.

Gakpo was asked why he picked Diaz over Mohamed Salah, and he replied saying that he doesn’t actually consider Salah all that skilful as a player.

“Who’s the most skilful?” Gakpo was asked.

“Luis Diaz, why Diaz over Salah?” Gakpo was asked.

“He’s skilful, he does tricks and stuff, yeah, Mo doesn’t do any tricks,” Gakpo said.

The Liverpool player who was more skilful than Diaz

It’s interesting to hear Gakpo name Diaz as the most skilful player at Liverpool, because earlier this year, he was hailing another of his teammates for his skills.

Gakpo said that Thiago Alcantara was one of the most skilful players at Liverpool before his departure, and that’s a sentiment that has been echoed by a number of other players.

Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel named Thiago as the most skilful player in the world earlier this year, while Diogo Jota also called Thiago the most skilful player around.

Sadly, Thiago did leave Liverpool in the summer, ultimately retiring from football upon his departure from Anfield, and now, Diaz has seemingly taken over the throne as the most skilful player at Liverpool.

Diaz is an incredibly talented footballer with bags of ability, but in terms of pure skill on the ball, Thiago may be one of the best the Premier League has ever seen, but, sadly, injuries seriously hampered his Liverpool career.
