Sky Sports journalists have provided the latest update on Blackburn Rovers’ Sammie Szmodics after being linked with a move to Leeds United.
Leeds United narrowly missed out on promotion last season so the onus will be on Daniel Farke to go up in the top two this term.
To do that, he’ll need to be backed in the summer transfer window and it’s thought he’s keen on adding a striker.
Sammie Szmodics has been linked to Elland Road and Sky Sports journalists have now provided an update on his situation.
Ipswich close in on Sammie Szmodics
Ipswich Town and Leeds United are going toe-to-toe to sign Blackburn Rovers’ Sammie Szmodics.
Sky Sports journalists Dharmesh Sheth and Alan Myers have now provided the latest and it doesn’t make great reading for Leeds fans.
“Ipswich remain in talks with Blackburn over the signing of striker Sam Szmodics.
“A gap in valuation still exists but both clubs are getting closer to an agreement.
“Personal terms are not expected to be a problem with the player thought to be keen on the move.”
So with Ipswich now in pole position, Leeds will have to turn their attention to alternative striking targets.
Leeds should move for Tom Cannon
Leeds should now consider a move to sign Leicester City striker Tom Cannon, who is thought to be available on a loan deal, according to Alan Nixon.
West Bromwich Albion, Stoke City and Sheffield United are all keen on signing the 21-year-old, so Leeds should flex their muscles and enter the race.
Cannon has netted 10 times in 33 Championship appearances, enjoying a particularly good spell at Preston.
