Jack Butland told Michael Bridge that his move to Rangers in the summer of 2023 was “one of the best decisions” he ever made.
The 31-year-old has been a mainstay in the Gers squad since joining on a free transfer, becoming one of the first names on the teamsheet since Philippe Clement’s arrival last October.
With spells at Stoke City, Crystal Palace and Manchester United, Butland gained plenty of Premier League experience before moving North of the border and has clearly never looked back since.
Taking to X on Friday (13 December), Bridge said: “Had a quick chat with Jack Butland after the match. Said it was one of the best decisions he’s made moving to Rangers.”
Jack Butland loving life in Scotland with Rangers
Despite the team’s form on the pitch, Butland is clearly loving life North of the border as he continues to play an important role in the current Gers squad.
The shot-stopper has never looked like falling out of the starting XI, with no other ‘keepers matching up to his abilities in the Scottish Premiership, though Celtic fans will argue Kasper Schmeichel is on top.
At just 31 years of age, Butland still has plenty of seasons left to fight in between the sticks so it was really no surprise to see him linked with a move away during the summer.
Of course, it would be a huge blow if he were to leave in any windows over the next couple of seasons, given the difficulty in attempting to replace him.
While Liam Kelly was signed as a backup for Butland, impressing at Motherwell over the last few campaigns, there would be ginormous shoes left to fill at Ibrox.
If Butland’s admission is anything to go by, however, he could remain at Ibrox for the foreseeable future and help turn things around on the pitch.
In other Rangers news, Philippe Clement will be utterly distraught as a new blow emerges ahead of the Celtic clash.
