Kobbie Mainoo's Man United game time to be reduced amid new fear - report

Man United are reportedly closely monitoring Kobbie Mainoo’s game time in the next fortnight.

The 19-year-old has started all four of United’s Premier League games so far, missing just six minutes of the season after being brought off in the opening match against Fulham.

According to GiveMeSport, the midfielder will likely be rested during the next two weeks as the club are keen to monitor his minutes.

The Premier League giants do not want Mainoo to burn out early on ahead of what is going to be a long season.

Erik ten Hag is likely to rotate him more frequently moving forward to keep his legs fresh.

Mainoo broke into the United squad last season and also became a regular for England during Euro 2024, which has led to limited rest time this year.

Man United are going to manage Kobbie Mainoo carefully

Mainoo was on the bench for United’s 7-0 victory against Barnsley in the EFL Cup in midweek but wasn’t brought on.

Manuel Ugarte is expected to be Mainoo’s main midfield partner, but the added depth will make it easier for Ten Hag to rotate the squad.

Christian Eriksen and Casemiro are available for selection, while Mason Mount will also be returning from injury soon to bolster United’s midfield.

Mainoo made 35 appearances for United last season in all competitions, while he also played six times for the Three Lions during Euro 2024.

United will be back in action on Saturday (21 September) as they travel to play Crystal Palace.
