Man United fans taken aback by Marcus Rashford after Rio Ferdinand's claim

Man United fans were wowed by Marcus Rashford’s performance in the Carabao Cup victory against Barnsley as he finally looks to have found his form.

Erik ten Hag’s side thrashed their League One opponents 7-0 at Old Trafford to progress to the fourth round, with two goals from each of Rashford, Christian Eriksen and Alejandro Garnacho, and one from Antony.

However, the main talking point was Rashford’s goalscoring form as he looks to have found his mojo after a difficult few months at United.

Rio Ferdinand was among those singing the 26-year-old’s praises after he claimed on 16 September: “I was talking to Erik ten Hag during an interview after training had finished.

I walked around and saw the pitch where they were training and two players were doing extra shooting. [They were] cracking up, laughing, having a competition, joking.

It was Bruno [Fernandes] and Marcus Rashford. We’ve talked so much about Rashford, about ‘You don’t look happy, man’, I’ve said it loads, I need to see a smiling, happy and joyful Marcus, then we’ll get the best Marcus.”

Ferdinand was proven right as the forward looked back to his best at Old Trafford, turning in one of his most impressive performances in recent months and playing with a smile on his face.

His two goals against Barnsley have taken his tally to three in six games this season, following his strike in the 3-0 win against Southampton at the weekend.

Marcus Rashford stuns Man United fans with performance v Barnsley

Rashford scored just eight goals in 43 appearances for United last season, leading to speculation about his long-term future at Old Trafford.

Fans had agreed with Jamie Carragher’s suggestion that the forward should leave his boyhood club to reignite his career after a disappointing performance against Liverpool.

Now, however, with three goals in his last two games, United supporters have been full of praise for the England star, and have taken to social media to share their praise.

In other news, Bruno Fernandes sent a message to Jadon Sancho after what he did for Chelsea.
